Description

Bakers Mill is a former mill house that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the mid to late 17th century, with an enlargement added around 1960. The building is constructed from random rubble limestone, with ashlar and rubble chimneys, and features a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic, and the later range to the east forms an L-plan.

At the west end, the original house serves as a cross-wing. The front has a varied arrangement of windows, including a 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement on the ground floor, with a hoodmould grouping above a doorway to the right that has glazed doors. There is also a further timber casement to the right. On the upper floor, there are two mullioned casements, with 2 and 3 lights, and a small timber casement to the left. The gable ends have chimneys with moulded caps.

On the south side, the gable end of the 17th-century house projects forward to the left, featuring a single-light window on the ground floor, a 2-light window above, and a timber casement in the attic. The east side has mullioned fenestration and two gabled eaves-mounted dormers. The 1960 addition has two steep gables and features mullioned windows with 2, 3, and 4 lights. The building is situated in a picturesque location alongside a mill pond.
