Description
Former mill and house, now a house, dating back to the 17th century. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar or dressed squared block, with a stone slate roof. It has a cross-gabled L-plan. The south-facing front, which is two and a half storeys high, has three windows. These are 1, 2, or 3-light recessed casements with chamfer stone mullions, some featuring leading glass and stopped hood moulds. A doorway is blocked on the left side of the front, and a 20th-century glazed door is positioned to the right. A small chimney stack is on a plain gable facing the road. The rear wing, also cross-gabled, has a 2-light casement, a broad 8-pane sash window over a 3-light stone mullioned casement with a hood mould, and a plank door to the right. The left end of the rear wing has a 19th-century wood casement window above a further 2-light window. The interior has not been inspected, but is understood to have been altered. The building was once thought to have been divided into three cottages. It is located immediately opposite Brownshill House.
