Description

Penn House is a detached house that dates from the late 17th century, with additions from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed from random and coursed rubble limestone, with some parts rendered, and features ashlar and rendered brick chimneys. The roofs are covered with stone slate and concrete tiles. The house is two storeys high with an attic and has a parallel rear range with an additional wing.

The front of the house has a two-window arrangement, with all windows being chamfered mullioned 2-light casements, and those on the ground floor have hoodmoulds. There is an additional single-light window to the left. The central doorway has glazed doors and is sheltered by a gabled porch with a pointed lintel. The gable end chimneys have plain and chamfered caps.

On the south side, the gable end of the original 17th-century house is visible on the left. It features single-window 2-light chamfered mullioned casements with hoodmoulds, including one in the attic that has been blocked with brick. To the right is the rendered gable end of the parallel roofed addition, which has a two-window casement arrangement. A rubble gable-mounted chimney is also present. The 19th-century wing is located to the right. Inside, the 17th-century section features ogee stops to the beam chamfers.
