Description
Lechlade Mill is a former mill and adjoining house that has been converted into one large private residence. The building dates partly from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century. It is primarily constructed of coursed rubble stone, with dressed stone on the left side, and features a stone slate roof with scattered stone stacks. The structure has a long L-shape, divided into four sections, mostly two-storey with attic skylights in the slightly taller section.
The fenestration is scattered and partly renewed. On the left side, the original house has flush stone dressings and quoins, with three windows on the first floor: two triple sash windows flanking a central 12-pane sash. Below, there are two triple sash windows and a central door with six flush panels. The adjoining section to the right originally featured two three-light stone mullion windows on each floor, but only the moulded stone frames remain, now with wooden casements. There is also a central chamfered stone doorway.
The next section to the right is taller and has two segmental brick-arched multi-pane windows on both floors, with a smaller similar window to the left on the ground floor. A central raised stone arched bridge is attached in front, which carries part of the mill water, while the rest flows to the north of the house. The end section has renewed two and three-light casements. The interior has been much altered.
