Description

The Cottage is a detached house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble limestone, featuring an ashlar chimney and a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic. There is a 20th-century addition to the west corner that is not of special interest.

The southeast end, which faces the road, has a parapet gable and a single-window arrangement, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the upper floor and attic. All windows are chamfered mullioned and have hoodmoulds, with iron casements. The gable features a chimney mounted with a moulded cap.

On the southwest side, there are two windows: a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above, both with hoodmoulds. The building also has a central hipped roof dormer topped with a ball finial. The northeast side has a full gable with a single-light attic casement featuring lead lattice, and a two-light casement below, also lead latticed with a hoodmould. There is a lean-to addition on the ground floor that includes a doorway with a gabled timber porch. The interior has not been inspected.
