16/227 Post Office and General Store (previously listed as House (occupied by Coles) and Post Office 28.6.60

GV II

Shop and house at end of row. Early C18; early C19 remodelling and enlargement. Coursed rubble limestone; artificial stone rebuilt chimney; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic and cellar. Front: 4-window fenestration, all segmental arched with linking ashlar band to ground floor, mixed doors and casements; three 12-pane upper floor sashes and casement in reduced opening above shop doorway. Ridge-mounted chimney at north end. Hipped south west corner of roof. South end: return wing with leaded casement to attic dormer; scattered casements below. Rear: 2 gables, left being end of return wing; right is gable end of earlier building with single-window fenestration, 2-light to cellar, 3-light to ground and upper floors, 2-light to attic, all with hoodmoulds.
