Description
This is a shop and house built in the middle to late 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and the 20th century. The building is constructed of random rubble limestone, with brick rebuilt chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic. The front façade has two gables, which have been reduced in depth by raising the eaves. The right-hand gable retains a two-light mullioned attic casement with chamfered edges. The apex of the left-hand gable has been rebuilt in brick, and there is a leaded iron casement in a timber attic window. Three sixteen-pane upper floor sash windows are present, the left one positioned above what was formerly a throughway, now with a recessed shop front. A 20th century shop front and central doorway are located on the ground floor. At the rear, a full gable is visible on the left side, featuring a concrete block rebuilt chimney. A shallow, attached two-storey outshut has a three-light recessed mullioned window with a hoodmould on the upper floor. A projecting outshut to the right, with a catslide roof, has leaded upper floor casements, with one in a gabled attic dormer. There is an eaves-level raking dormer to the right, also leaded. Other attached outbuildings are not of special architectural interest. The interior has not been inspected. The building has group value, contributing to the character of the area.
