Description
No 9 West End is a house at the end of a row, built in the late 17th century with alterations in the late 19th century. It features random rubble limestone construction, ashlar chimneys, and a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a long two-story rear wing.
The front of the house has two full gables and a two-window arrangement. The ground floor has 19th-century restored three-light mullioned casements, with a linking hoodmould over a central doorway that has a basket-arched lintel and a plank door. The upper floor features three-light chamfered mullioned casements with a linking hoodmould, and there are two-light attic casements with hoodmoulds, all of which are leaded.
On the west end, there are signs of various former openings, all of which have been blocked. The rear wing, which is partly contemporary with the front, has a west-facing gable with three-light upper floor and two-light attic casements. The remainder of the wing was formerly a coach house and stable but is now part of the house. The interior has not been inspected.
