Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of four dwellings located on Bradley Road in Wotton-under-Edge. The houses are constructed of squared and dressed stone with slate roofs, although No. 46 has a concrete tile roof. The site has a steep slope away from the road, creating an additional floor at the rear of the properties.

The houses are two storeys high, each with two windows. All of the windows have segmental heads and keystones. Nos. 40, 42 and 44 retain original sash windows with glazing bars, while No. 46 has more recent replacement aluminium windows without bars. A wide band of stonework, approximately 3 feet high, is situated above the top windows. Nos. 40 and 42 have original six-panel fielded doors.

The terrace is a good example of its type, providing four floors at the rear and only two at the front. No. 46 has been included for group value.
