Description

This is a former barn, now used as an outbuilding, located approximately 20 meters north of The Lammas in Minchinhampton. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The structure is built from random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof.

The barn has five bays and includes a gabled porch at the center of the west side, although the doorway is now blocked. A later gable-mounted chimney has been added. To the left, there is a lean-to outshut supported by stone posts with later masonry infill between them. The north gable end has a keyed stone lintel above a loft opening, which now contains a casement window, and there is an owl hole in the apex of the gable. Internally, there are slit vents with splayed openings. The east side features central barn doors, and there is an inserted 16-pane sash window and a doorway in a partially rebuilt wall to the left. The gable ends have cross roll saddles.

Inside, the barn has been subdivided, and the porch is open to the main area, which has been altered by the addition of a 20th-century inglenook fireplace. The roof consists of a five-bay collar and tie beam truss with two rows of purlins. This barn is part of a group with The Lammas.
