Description
This building is a barn located opposite Upper Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a rectangular plan with a central projecting porch on the south side, flanked by later lean-tos. It is a single-storey structure with an asbestos roof at the right gable end.
The south-facing elevation includes a gabled porch with a double 20th-century plank doorway and a relieving arch. To the left of the porch is a lean-to with two plank doors and a ventilation slit. On the right side of the porch, there is an open-fronted store supported by square dressed stone columns with moulded capitals and bases, which divide the bays. The left gable end has a plank door that has been partially rebuilt. At the rear, opposite the projecting porch, there is a double doorway that has been infilled with concrete blocks. The single-storey building to the right features stable doors, two plank doors, and three 2-light wooden casements.
Inside, the barn has seven bays with queen strut trusses and staggered double purlins.
