Description

The cross on the village green in Coberley is a Jubilee village cross that dates from the medieval period and was modified in 1897. It features a medieval limestone cross shaft set into a concrete base from 1897. The lower part of the cross is square and transitions to an octagonal shape as it rises, with diamond stops marking the change. The shaft ends in a 19th-century rectangular block that has a moulded capping, base, and a sundial, which is now missing its metal gnomon. At the top, there is a crown-like finial. This cross was erected by the village to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
