Description
The cross shaft and cross shaft base at the fork in the road in Cowley Village are medieval structures with a 19th-century cross. Made of limestone, the square base features a flat-chamfered plinth and capping, supporting a smaller square base that has a flat-chamfered base and moulded upper corners. The cross shaft begins with a square base that transitions to an octagonal shape as it rises. The medieval shaft currently stands at about 1 meter high, with its upper part and the cross dating from the 19th century.
