Description

113 and 115 Southgate Street are two shops that were formerly dwellings, built around 1820 with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of stuccoed brick and feature a slate roof. They form a double-depth block with a wing at the rear of No. 113.

The exterior consists of three storeys, with the stucco front ruled to mimic masonry joints. There is a renewed crowning cornice and a stone-coped parapet. The late 20th-century shop fronts are present at ground level. On the first floor of No. 113, there are two tall sash windows with glazing bars, arranged in a 4x6 pane configuration, while No. 115 has a similar sash window. The second floor of No. 113 features two short sash windows with glazing bars in a 4x4 pane arrangement, and No. 115 has a matching sash window. All the sash windows have been renewed in their original openings and are fitted with projecting stone sills. The interior has not been inspected.
