Description
This is one of a pair of former houses, dating to around 1825, located on Spa Road in Gloucester. The building is now offices. It is situated alongside No. 121 Southgate Street. Constructed of painted brick with stone detailing, it has a slate roof and brick stacks. The building's front elevation faces Southgate Street, while its north gable wall and the north side of a rear wing are visible from Spa Road; the main entrance is in the north gable-end wall. The property is three storeys high, with a cellar. The front elevation, facing Southgate Street, has an offset plinth and a coped parapet, with three bays of unequal spacing. It features sash windows across the ground, first, and second floors. The ground and first floors have sashes with 3x4 panes, while the second floor has shorter sashes with 3x2 panes. All windows are set within openings with flat, arched heads formed of five raised, stepped stone voussoirs, and feature projecting stone sills. The side elevation facing Spa Road includes the entrance doorway to the left, accessed by a flight of stone steps. The doorway has a semicircular arched head, a fanlight above the door, and a semicircular canopy supported by wrought-iron brackets. The entrance door itself is made of six panels. The interior has not been inspected.
