Description
Number 11A is an early 19th century end-of-terrace house located on Spa Road in Gloucester. It is a double-depth house with a short wing at the rear. The exterior is of brick, with a stuccoed front, and has a slate roof and a brick stack. The front elevation is distinguished by a raised band on the first floor, a crowning cornice with a frieze band, and a parapet. A flight of stone steps leads to the left-hand entrance doorway, which has a semicircular arched head and a metal “batwing” pattern fanlight above a six-panel door. To the right of the door is a large, later sash window in the original opening. The first floor has two sash windows with 3x4 panes of glazing bars, each within an opening with projecting sills, and with 20th-century metal window guards in a 19th-century style. The second floor has two shorter sash windows with 3x3 panes of glazing bars, also within openings with projecting sills. The interior of the house was not inspected during the listing process. The front area is separated from the adjoining area of Number 11 by a coped parapet wall and a wrought-iron railing facing the street.
