Description
11 and 11A Hill Road is a house with a service wing, now divided into two dwellings. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and features smooth rendered walls and slate roofs. The main block is compact and symmetrical, with a deep narrow wing at the back right, which is now a separate property. The front block is two stories high and has three windows with glazing bar sashes set in simple architraves. There is a central arched doorway with a panelled door beneath a radial fanlight. The flanking windows are in shallow bays that project slightly, all under continuous shallow box eaves. The back of the building has an 8-pane sash window, and there is another sash window above a glazed 20th-century door. Two rubble gable stacks have been raised in brick.
No 11A is also two stories tall and features three 12-pane sashes on the first floor above a well-crafted six-panel fielded door. The back is plain, and the far gable is built against a slope, with a set of stone steps leading into an inset corner. The front block (No 11) likely had glazing bars in its original design.
