Description
The Spalite Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel and shop. It was built in the early 19th century and is located on Southgate Street in Gloucester, adjacent to No.2 Spa Road, sharing similar architectural details. The building is constructed of cream-painted brick with stone accents and has a slate roof with brick chimneys.
It features three storeys and a cellar, with a double-depth layout and a short wing at the rear right. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front designed in a 19th-century style, painted black. To the left of the shop front is the entrance, which has a semicircular arch with a plain fanlight above a four-panel door. There is also a sash window to the left of the doorway.
On the first floor, there are three tall sash windows, and on the second floor, there are three shorter sash windows. All windows have glazing bars, with the ground and first-floor sashes featuring three rows of four panes, while the second-floor sashes have three rows of three panes. The window openings have flat arched heads made of five raised-and-stepped voussoirs and projecting stone sills. The interior has not been inspected.
