Description
93 and 95 Westgate Street is a pair of shops and former dwellings, dating from the 18th century, although they may include earlier structures and have undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed of stuccoed brick, with No. 93 featuring an end gabled roof covered with interlocking tiles, while No. 95 has a plain 20th-century tiled roof. Both buildings have flat-roofed dormers and a central lateral brick chimney. They are arranged in a double-depth block with parallel ranges and rear wings.
The exterior consists of two storeys and an attic, topped with a stone-coped parapet. The ground floor of No. 93 has a mid-20th-century shop front, while No. 95 displays a late 19th-century shop front. On the first floor, there are four sash windows with glazing bars (4x3 panes) set in openings with projecting stone sills. The rear of No. 95 is finished in painted roughcast, with the ground floor obscured by 20th-century extensions. The rear of No. 93 features painted brickwork, a segmental brick arch above a 6/6-pane first-floor sash window, and a mid-20th-century tiled gabled dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
