Description
Two shops and former dwellings dating from the early 19th century, with later 19th and early 20th century alterations. The building is constructed of brick with stone detailing, has a hipped slate roof, and a brick stack. It consists of a double-depth block with a rear wing to each unit.
The exterior is three storeys high and features a continuous dentil cornice. On the ground floor, the centre has a semicircular arched doorway, likely leading to a rear yard. This doorway has rusticated stone jambs and a moulded stone arch, the lower part of which is within a stone-framed panel extending to the level of the first-floor window sills. The doorway has panelled doors and a glazed fanlight. To the left of the doorway in No. 109 is a doorway with a rectangular fanlight and six-panel door framed by timber pilasters. To the right are two shuttered windows with slightly segmental brick arched heads. Above the doorway and windows is a timber fascia and cornice. No. 111 has an early 20th-century timber shopfront on the ground floor, now partially obscured by a later 20th-century fascia. The first floor of each unit has two sash windows with 3x4 glazing bars. The second floor has two shorter sash windows with 3x3 glazing bars, all in openings with flat-arched heads framed by five raised and stepped stone voussoirs.
The interior was not inspected.
