Description
Nos. 113 and 115 on Westgate Street are two shops that were originally dwellings, built in the early 19th century, with some alterations from the late 19th or early 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone details and feature a slate roof with a central brick chimney. They form a double-depth block with a rear wing for each unit.
The exterior has three storeys and presents a symmetrical front with a stone-coped parapet. Each shop has an early 20th-century shop front framed by pilasters with brackets at the ends of the fascias. On the first floor, there are two sash windows, one for each unit, with glazing bars arranged in a 3x4 pane configuration. The second floor features two short sash windows, again one for each unit, with glazing bars in a 3x3 pane arrangement. All windows are set in openings with flat arched heads, each adorned with five raised-and-stepped stone voussoirs and projecting stone sills. The interior has not been inspected.
