Description

The Old Bakehouse is a house and former bakery located at the end of a row in Longborough, dating from the late 17th to early 18th century for the house and late 18th to early 19th century for the bakehouse. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with a thin stone slate roof and ashlar stacks.

The main body of the house is rectangular and extends back to the rear right, with the former bakehouse attached to the left gable end. The house has two storeys and an attic, which is lit by two gabled roof dormers featuring 20th-century metal casements with glazing bars. The facade has two windows, which are illuminated by three and four-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods. Some of the windows have horizontal glazing bars, and the first-floor windows have leaded panes. The former central front door is now blocked.

The former bakehouse to the left has two storeys and features two and three-light wood casements, with a 20th-century plank door located at the lower right. Thick stone lintels with keystones are present over the ground floor windows and door. The main body has flat gable-end coping and gable-end stacks, while the former bakehouse has gable-end coping and an axial stack. The interior has not been inspected.
