Description

LONGBOROUGH LONGBOROUGH VILLAGE SP 1729 8/143 The Old Bakehouse (formerly listed as Post Office) 25.8.60 GV II House and former bakery now incorporated into house, at end of row. Late C17 - early C18 house, late C18 - early C19 bakehouse. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, thin stone slate roof, ashlar stacks. Rectangular main body extended back rear right, former bakehouse attached to left gable end. House; 2 storeys with attic lit by two 2-light gabled roof dormers with C20 metal casements with glazing bars. Two-windowed facade lit by 3 and 4- light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods, some windows with horizontal glazing bars, leaded panes to first floor windows. Former central front door now blocked. Former bakehouse left, 2 storeys with 2 and 3-light wood casements. C20 plank door lower right. Thick stone lintels over ground floor windows and door with keystone. Flat gable-end coping and gable-end stacks to main body. Gable-end coping and axial stack to former bakehouse left. Interior not inspected.
