Description

This is a house, former baker's shop, and bakehouse, dating from about 1700, which was raised and refronted in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and timber framing, with a slate roof. The building has an L-shaped layout. The front facing Baker Street comprises a single gable and a single ridge stack. It is three storeys high, with a three-window front. The ground floor has an early 19th-century shop front, featuring a wooden pilaster surround, fascia board, a glazed door to the left, and a six-light shop window to the right. To the left of the shop front are two, three-light sash windows with segmented heads. Above is a double brick band, followed by three, three-light casements with segmented heads. A further level has three, three-light casements. The south gable wall has partially exposed timber framing showing the original roof pitch. The bakehouse to the rear has a slate and corrugated iron roof, with a single ridge stack. The north front includes a projecting section to the right, with a plank door with a segmental head and overlight, and a glazing bar casement. The upper level of this section contains a two-light casement and a fixed light. Set back to the left is an off-centre doorway with a plank door, a small window to the right above a three-light casement with glazed bars, and a two-light window to the left.
