Description
The Former Denbigh Arms Hotel is an early 19th-century building that was originally a coaching inn. It is constructed of stuccoed brick and features a tiled roof. The hotel has three storeys and presents a large, symmetrical seven-window facade, with a central carriage entry that is topped by an elliptical arch leading to the former coaching yard. There are two stacks at each end and two ridge stacks. The eaves are deeply overhanging and supported by shaped brackets. The building is accentuated by giant end pilasters that have moulded capitals and incised Greek-key panels. All windows are framed in raised moulded and lugged architraves, and there are continuous sill bands, with the upper floor sill featuring guilloche enrichment. Although all original sash windows have been replaced with synthetic frames that lack glazing bars, the window openings themselves remain unchanged.
