Description
No. 22 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the early 19th century and has been altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features raised quoins and platbands over the ground and first floors. It has a moulded wooden eaves cornice beneath a plain tiled roof, which has a ridge stack to the right of the center and another stack at the rear left.
The house is two-and-a-half storeys tall and has a regular five-window front. The windows are 6 and 12-pane sashes, mostly without horns, all featuring gauged heads. On the ground floor, there is a single shopfront to the right, which includes an inset glazed door. To the right of the center, there is a round-arched doorway with a gauged head and a boarded door. The main entrance to the house is located in the center and features a recessed panelled door with a transom light above, set in panelled reveals and accessed by steps. This entrance has a moulded door surround and a flat cornice hood supported by brackets. A wrought-iron handrail leads up the steps to the door.
