Description
The Village Hall is a detached village hall built in 1904 in memory of Frederick Brooks Dugdale V.C. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and an ashlar stack. The building has a rectangular plan and features a central gabled porch that slightly projects forward at the front. To the right of the porch is a 4-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned window, and to the left is a 6-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned window with a king mullion, both with stopped hoods. The central entrance consists of a round-headed double door with glazing bars, set within a round-headed moulded surround that includes a keystone, imposts, and decorated spandrels. Doric columns on rectangular plinths flank the doorway, topped with a frieze that has raised strapwork decoration. Above this is a heraldic shield within a scrollwork surround, set within a broken segmental pediment. The porch gable features flat gable-end coping with roll-cross saddles and a ball finial at the apex. A central axial stack is also present. The interior has not been inspected.
