Description

Milestone located on the south side of the A433 in Rodmarton, likely dating from the mid to late 18th century. This milestone marks the turnpiked road from Bath to Cirencester, which was established in 1743. It consists of a single stone slab, approximately 0.6 meters high, set into a drystone wall. An attached iron plate is painted white with embossed black lettering. The inscription indicates distances: "VII/To CIRENCESTER/III/To TETBURY/XXVI/To BATH."
