CHEDWORTH LONGFURLONG SP 00 NE 7/86 Barn and adjoining stables c30m south of Longfurlong Farmhouse

GV II

Barn and adjoining stables. Mid-late C18. Coursed roughly squared and dressed limestone; stone slate roof, some slate roof to former open-fronted store (now stable) on the north-west. Long rectangular plan to barn with a projecting porch on the north-west. Stable with loft added slightly later to the south-east gable end. Former open-fronted store, and stable at right angles to barn on the north-west, (later linked to the barn by a short length of wall). Projecting porch off-centre right on the north-west side with double doorway with timber lintel, double doorway in the wall opposite. Triangular ventilation holes and owl hole in the gable end. Stable door to adjoining stable; pitching window to former loft, upper left. Flat coping to gable ends. Barn interior: 3 1/2 bays with collar and tie beam roof trusses. Stable 3 bays, collar and tie beam trusses with double purlins.
