Description
Amphlett House is a large detached house built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and an ashlar stack. The house has a long rectangular plan, featuring a lean-to extension on the right gable end and a wash house extension on the left gable end. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-windowed facade, which is illuminated by three-light wooden casements that have segmental heads and glazing bars. There is a double glazed door with a segmental head on the far left and a 19th-century plank door with two glazed panes at the top, located off-centre to the right. The house also includes three 2-light hipped roof dormers, an early plank door leading to the wash house, and a plank door with a top opening casement at the lean-to on the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
