Description

Blakemoor Cottage is a detached house dating from the early to mid-17th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. The house is constructed of limestone rubble with large dressed stone blocks; it has dressed stone quoins and a roof of stone slate and artificial stone slate. Cream-coloured brick stacks are set on pebble-dashed plinths. The building has a rectangular plan, with a 20th-century lean-to extension to the left gable end, a garage extension to the right gable end, and a further extension to the rear left. The house has two storeys, a basement, and an attic.

The front facade is symmetrical, with two windows. The windows are 2-light and 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. A continuous dripmould runs over the ground floor windows. A 20th-century fielded 6-panel door is set within a flat-chamfered surround, with a 20th-century concrete lintel, to the left gable end. A 20th-century plank door, accompanied by a 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement, is located at the right gable end. Rear windows include 20th-century two-light and single-light stone-mullioned casements. A Cotswold-style extension is situated at the rear, to the left. Gable-end stacks are present. The interior was not inspected.
