Description
The Crofts is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century, constructed of limestone rubble with a roof made of stone slate and concrete tiles, featuring ashlar stacks. It has a rectangular one-up-one-down plan. There is a 19th-century outbuilding that is connected to the main structure via a corridor, which is early 20th century and not of special interest. The cottage is one and a half storeys high and has a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement window on the south-east facing gable end. To the right, there is a 19th-century plank door set within a part-glazed porch from the 20th century. The gable end also features a two-light casement window from the 19th century, while the south-west elevation has two and three-light wooden casements. There is a single gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected. This cottage is notable for being a rare example of a relatively unextended plan form.
