Description
Well Hill is a detached house dating from the late 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. It is constructed of random roughly squared limestone and features a stone slate roof, along with ashlar stacks, one of which was restored in the 20th century. The main body of the house is rectangular, standing one and a half storeys high with a basement or cellar, while the 19th-century extension is also one and a half storeys.
The entrance front faces south and includes a double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement window with a stopped hood on the ground floor. There is a gabled porch built of ashlar from the 19th century, which has lancet windows on the sides and an off-centre right 20th-century plank door. Above the porch, there is a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement window in the rebuilt gablet. The roadside front features a single-light casement window with flat-chamfered surrounds. On the gable end facing away from the road, there are two 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements and a plank door leading to the cellar or basement. The east front of the 19th-century range has three gablets and is lit by single-light, 2-light, and 3-light stone-mullioned casements, some of which have hoods. The interior has not been inspected.
