Description
Swans Nest is a detached cottage located in Chedworth Village, dating from the late 17th century to the mid 18th century, with later extensions. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and features a stone slate roof. The main structure has a rectangular plan, with extensions added to both gable ends and a small stable block at the rear left corner.
The cottage is two storeys high, with a two-storey extension set back at the left gable end, and a 20th-century single-storey lean-to at the front. The facade has two windows, featuring 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements for the house, and a 2-light wooden casement in the upper left. There is a 20th-century part-glazed door with glazing bars located off-centre to the left. The lean-to extension also has a similar door and a 20th-century three-light stone-mullioned casement, along with a stone-mullioned casement on the first floor.
Stone steps lead up to the gable end of the stable block, where a part-glazed 20th-century door provides access to the loft. The main body of the cottage features a gable-end stack and a roll-cross saddle, while the wash house has its own gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
