Description

Swan Farmhouse and attached outbuildings is an inn that has been converted into a farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations in the late 18th or early 19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone, partly rendered, and features a Collyweston slate roof. It originally had a two-unit plan and stands three storeys high.

The façade includes a two-window range of 19th-century casements, with the ground floor windows featuring 17th-century moulded stone surrounds, while the upper windows have ashlar surrounds with gauged stone heads. There is evidence of a blocked window in the center of the first floor. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with glazed toplights, surrounded by a rendered frame and topped with a flat wooden hood. The gable ends have ashlar parapets and ashlar stacks.

To the right of the farmhouse, there is a late 18th or early 19th-century two-storey range with two windows, featuring tripartite and plain sash windows under shallow stone arches, along with a 20th-century door to the left under a similar arch. The attached outbuildings from the 18th century are positioned at right angles to the farmhouse and include one plank door, one stable door, and various casement openings, with differing eaves levels. The left gable, which abuts the road, has one 20th-century window. The interior has not been inspected but likely contains blocked open fireplaces. The building was originally known as the Swan Inn.
