Description
Blue Bell House is a house that dates from the early 17th century, with 18th and mid-19th century alterations. It is built of regular coursed and squared limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. The original structure likely had a two-unit plan and consists of a single storey with an attic and two storeys.
The left side of the building has a one-window range that represents the original house, which includes a canted bay window on the ground floor topped with a Collyweston slate roof. There is an eaves dormer with a casement window in the attic and a large brick and stone stack at the end. The right side has a two-window range that is from the mid-19th century, featuring sash windows with glazing bars, ashlar dressings, stone lintels, and keyblocks. A 20th-century door to the left of this range has a similar surround and a rectangular fanlight, along with a stone stack at the end.
Inside, the room to the left of the entrance has an open fireplace with a bressumer. The building was used for a time as the Bluebell Public House.
