Description
Gwydir Cottage and The Haven is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the 17th century but was altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed from squared course limestone, with some areas rendered, and features Collyweston slate roofs. Originally, it had a four-unit plan and is now a single-storey structure with an attic.
The façade includes a four-window range of 19th-century casements set beneath wooden lintels. In the attic, there are three similar casements located under gabled eaves dormers. The central entrance features a six-panel door with glazed toplights, also under a wooden lintel, while there is a 20th-century door on the far right, surrounded by render. The gable parapets are made of ashlar, and there are brick and ashlar stacks at the ridge and ends. The right corner of the building is chamfered.
Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have some wall beams and ovolo moulded spine beams, and it likely contains remnants of open fireplaces. The room on the far right was probably originally used for non-domestic purposes.
