L-shaped Cottage and Former Dairy at Glandwr

The L-shaped cottage and former dairy at Glandwr is a building dating from the 18th century. It features a range of one and a half storeys with a two-unit plan, constructed from well-coursed and squared blocks of stone, topped with a slate roof that has coped gables and moulded kneelers. The central entrance is flanked by windows, and there are three hipped dormers in the attic. Upon inspection, all joinery details were found to be missing.

A stone staircase is located against the west gable, leading to a loft where a doorway has been converted into a window, providing access to the rear range. This rear range is faced with a whiter stone but is constructed from rougher rubble at the gable end. It is two storeys high, featuring paired doorways towards the centre, flanking windows, and a wide passage entry to the right. The arrangement of the lintels, which includes three large continuous lintels and a separate lintel over the left-hand window, suggests that the pattern of openings may have been altered.

Originally, the cottage had a two-room plan, but all internal partitions and details have been removed during inspection. The ceiling retains two substantial cross-beams and stop-chamfered joists, while collar trusses support the roof. A fireplace remains in the left-hand gable, although the flanking cupboards have been removed.
