Description

Greenhill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to around 1700, with later, probably 19th-century, extensions. It is constructed from limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins; the extensions at the rear are of coursed squared and dressed limestone. The roof is covered in concrete tiles, with ashlar squared and dressed limestone and brick stacks. The main body of the building is rectangular, with extensions projecting at right angles to the rear.

The main section of the farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, as well as a cellar. The rear extensions are two storeys high. The front facade is symmetrical and has four window bays, featuring stone-mullioned cross windows. A moulded dripmould runs above the ground floor windows. A 19th-century plank door, with a single pane of glass at the top, is set within a flat-chamfered basket-headed surround, and is sheltered by a gabled 19th-century porch with a part-glazed door. Two 2-light roof dormers are visible. The return walls originally contained four stone-mullioned cross windows, which are now blocked. The rear extensions are lit by 2- and 3-light wooden casements. The roof of the main body is hipped at the front, with a triple gable at the rear. Each gable at the rear originally had a gable-end stack, although the central stack has been removed.

Internally, the farmhouse has 20th-century fireplaces and stairs. The kitchen is reportedly located above a well, and provides access to the cellar. The interior is not accessible.
