Description
Upper Barn is a barn built in the late 18th century, with slightly later extensions. It is constructed from thinly-bedded limestone and has a corrugated asbestos roof, while the extension features a stone slate roof with a lower roofline. The barn is rectangular in shape and has a projecting porch on the south side, along with a stable extension on the west gable end and a single bay extension on the east gable end.
The south front of the barn features a central projecting porch with a hipped roof and a double-width entrance lean-to to the right, which includes a single-width plank door and a single-light window above. The stable area has stone steps leading up to a plank door for the loft, with a similar door located below the landing. There is also a single-light window to the right of the steps, which is partially obscured, and a pitching window at the west gable end. The 1.5 storey extension on the east side has a 20th-century sliding garage door and stone steps leading up to a loft door.
On the roadside (north) front, there is a central low double door with a hipped canopy. The interior of the barn is not accessible. This building is situated in a prominent position at a corner.
