Description
Keble Barn is a barn with an attached stable and outbuilding, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has four bays and outshuts on the south side, along with a porch on the north side. The stable is attached at the southeast corner, creating an L-shape. The outshuts on the south side have a catslide roof that extends over a low barn doorway. The off-centre porch on the north side has a hipped roof, and there is a lean-to cartshed to the right.
The west end of the barn includes a loft opening, and there are owl holes in the gable apex at each end. The stable projects forward towards the road and has stone loft stairs leading to a gable end doorway, which features a projecting nosing at the top landing. There are two stable doorways on the west side and a shuttered loft opening, all with timber lintels. The east side has no openings. A small low lean-to outbuilding connects the stable with the barn.
Inside, the roof structure consists of a mix of tie-beam and collar trusses supported by iron tie rods. The building has a picturesque form and is located in an isolated position by the roadside.
