Description
Coneygar Farm Barn, along with an attached animal shelter and stable, is a Grade II listed building recorded since 1777, likely dating from the mid-18th century. The structure is built of coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and features a stone slate roof with coped verges. The complex is arranged in a Z shape.
The large barn has a projecting gabled bay on the south side, which includes a low cart entry with corrugated metal gates that is accessed via a ramp. Above this entry is a two-light stone framed window. There are catslides on either side of the bay, and a small lean-to extends further on the left side. The stable, likely located to the left, has a plank door with a timber lintel at the corner turning north. To the right, the animal shelter consists of seven bays facing east and four bays turning south, with five of the seven bays featuring half block walls between dividing square stone piers.
This building serves as an important roadside landmark, although a complete view and access to the interior were not available at the time of the survey.
