Description

Protector House is a Grade II listed building located on Bibury Road in Coln St Aldwyns. Originally three houses, it has been converted into a single house in a row. The building dates from around 1700, with a late 18th-century addition and some 20th-century rear extensions. It features coursed, dressed, and random rubble limestone, with brick rebuilt chimneys and stone slate roofs, while the rear addition has a concrete tile roof.

The structure is two stories tall with an attic and includes a projecting two-story wing at the rear. The front facade has a four-window arrangement for the original 1700 house on the right, all featuring stone cross-windows. There is a central chamfered doorway with a deep stone lintel and a six-panel door, along with an oval window above on the upper floor. A projecting band at the upper floor level, supported by plain brackets on either side of the doorway, may have once held a porch hood. The front also has two gabled roof dormers.

To the left, the later addition has a two-window casement fenestration with timber lintels, a central doorway with a timber lintel and a plank door, and two gabled roof dormers. Each part of the house has a rebuilt chimney at the south end. There are some signs of rebuilding at the south end, possibly indicating the demolition of an adjacent building. The interiors have not been inspected.
