Description
The Post Office, located on the east side of The Green in Coln St Aldwyns, is a former detached house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, with rubble and ashlar chimneys, and features a stone slate roof. The building is three storeys tall, with a two-storey outshut at the rear.
The front facade has a three-window arrangement, with three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements on the ground floor and two-light casements on the middle and upper floors, many of which still have their original leaded glass. A central 20th-century gabled porch is present, along with a stone telephone box addition to the left, which has a glazed door and a hipped roof. The gable end features rebuilt chimneys with moulded caps. The two-storey outshut at the rear has a lean-to roof.
Inside, the ground floor rooms have been incorporated into a shop in the 20th century.
