Description

Elm Tree Cottage and Cosy Cottage is a row of two houses dating from the early 18th century, with additions made in the mid to late 18th century. The building features random rubble limestone for Cosy Cottage and coursed rubble with ashlar bands for Elm Tree Cottage, along with brick rebuilt chimneys and a stone slate roof.

The west front has a two-window arrangement for Elm Tree Cottage on the left, showcasing recessed chamfered mullioned casements, including a three-light window to the left and a single-light window to the right of the doorway, which has a timber lintel and a plank door, with a two-light window above. There is a single gabled roof dormer.

A ridge-mounted chimney indicates the junction with the earlier Cosy Cottage on the right, which has a timber casement window with a timber lintel above a gabled porch featuring a 20th-century door.

On the north end, there is a small outbuilding attached to the gable end, with a doorway that has a timber lintel and plank doors on the east side. The south end has a gable end with a single-window arrangement, featuring a three-light mullioned casement on the ground floor and a timber casement with concrete lintels on the upper floor and attic. The interiors have not been inspected.
