Description

Old Walls is a detached house dating to the 17th century, with substantial rebuilding in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, with a brick chimney and a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys with an attic, and has a single-storey outshut at the west end. The north side has a two-window arrangement, with 19th-century restored recessed chamfered mullioned casement windows. There is a single-light window to the left and a two-light window to the right, both with hoodmoulds. Projecting eaves are supported by long brackets. The south side features mullioned windows to the ground floor, similar to those on the north side, and casement windows with timber lintels on the upper floor. A doorway with a timber gabled porch hood leads to the outshut at the west end, which has a lean-to roof. The interior was not inspected.
