Description

Orchard Cottage and Brook Cottage are two houses built as a row, dating to the late 17th century with an early 18th-century addition. They are constructed of coursed and random rubble limestone, with brick rebuilt chimneys and a concrete tile roof. The houses are two storeys tall with an attic.

Brook Cottage, on the right, is the older of the two and has a single and two-light mullioned casement window to the ground floor. The upper floor has a two-light and a three-light casement window, both with hoodmoulds. A central doorway has a glazed door and a timber lintel. Orchard Cottage, to the left, has two-light chamfered mullioned casement windows. It contains two doorways, one protected by a 20th-century flat porch hood. A small single-light window is set in a recess, likely an original doorway.

The east gable end has a single window; a two-light 19th-century ground floor casement with a hoodmould, a fixed-light with a timber lintel above, and a two-light recessed cavetto mullioned casement to the attic, with an oval set immediately above. A ball finial is present. A 20th-century gabled addition extends from the right side of the building.
