Description
The stable and outbuilding located to the east of Hillside Farmhouse is a former stable, which may have originally served a domestic purpose, and dates from the 17th century, with alterations and rebuilding occurring in the mid-18th century. It is constructed from random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building is rectangular and has a loft.
At the west end, the gable end shows a line of the original gable in the masonry. There is a central doorway with a stone lintel and a plank door, along with a blocked doorway to the left that has a small inserted casement, which is now also blocked. The upper floor has a 2-light casement window with a flat hoodmould.
The east end includes a lower attached stable with a loft, featuring a doorway with a timber lintel and a plank door in the gable end. There are doorways on each side, with the south side also having a 2-light window opening. The north side shows indications of some blocked openings. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value with the surrounding structures.
