Description

Henry Smart's consists of two houses in a row, dating from the mid-17th century with an early 18th-century addition. The buildings are constructed of random rubble limestone, with ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. They are two storeys tall with an attic, stepping down the hill.

On the southwest side, the lower house features scattered windows. It has a central doorway with a deep stone lintel and a chamfered opening. To the left is a single-light window, and to the right is a three-light window, both of which are recessed chamfered mullioned casements with a continuous hoodmould. The upper floor has an off-centre two-light casement with a hoodmould. The upper house has a single-window arrangement on the upper floor, while the ground floor has a three-light window and a two-light window above, both of which are chamfered mullioned casements. There is a doorway to the left with a concrete lintel and a plank door. The upper house features gable end chimneys, both with chamfered caps, while the lower house has a parapet gabled end. There is a single-light off-centre attic casement at the southeast end.

On the northeast side, the lower house has single-window fenestration, both with two-light casements and hoodmoulds. The upper house has a central three-light chamfered mullioned casement on the ground floor and a later off-centre two-light window above. There is a doorway to the right with a rendered lintel and a plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
