Description
Magnet House, which includes a garden wall with a gateway, is a house that is attached to Magnet Cottage. It dates from the early 18th century, with restoration work carried out in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of random and coursed rubble limestone, features an ashlar chimney, and has a stone slate roof. It is two stories high with an attic.
The west front has a two-window arrangement with mixed mullioned casements. On the ground floor, there is a three-light window to the left with a hoodmould, and above it, a two-light window in a gabled dormer at the eaves level. The central feature is a late 19th-century gabled porch with a pointed doorway that has a hoodmould and a panel inscribed with 'PAX' in the gable apex. The curved garden wall has a gateway that matches the porch opening.
On the north side, there is a gable end with a three-light casement on the upper floor and a small reset two-light 13th-century lancet window above it. There is also an ashlar chimney at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The building may have medieval origins but has been extensively rebuilt to form its current appearance.
