Description
Tubbs Cottage is a Grade II listed building located in Southrop Village. Originally two houses, it is now a detached house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with additions from the mid 18th century. The structure is built of coursed rubble limestone, featuring brick and rubble rebuilt chimneys, and has a stone slate roof.
The main part of the cottage is two storeys high with an attic, while there is a single-storey section with an attic at the eastern end. The north front has a two-window arrangement in the main part on the right, with all windows being three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements that have hoodmoulds. There is a restored ground floor single-light window to the right, which may have originally been a doorway. To the left, there is a half gable with a single-window fenestration, both also three-light with hoodmoulds. A doorway with a 20th-century door and a gabled porch is located to the right. The roof features various ridge-mounted chimneys.
On the south side, there are mixed segmental arched casements, which are all later alterations, while the lower part retains mullioned fenestration. The interiors have not been inspected.
